Counseling

Community Clinic is dedicated to providing you with the highest quality, lowest possible cost medical care. This includes caring for the entire person. Mental health is a huge part of why people don’t take care of their physical health. We are 100% funded by donations, grants, small businesses and fundraisers so even though our services are FREE we request a $10.00 donation to help keep them that way.

Approximately 1 in 5 adults in the United States – that’s 43.8 million people – experience a diagnosable mental disorder in a given year.

For almost 10 million people, the condition is serious enough to affect their ability to function day to day. The counselors at the Community Clinic care about you and take a Cognitive Behavioral approach coupled with Mindfulness Therapy to help balance your thoughts and focus more on the present without judgement.

Depression

Managing thoughts might be one of the most difficult challenges for human beings. Our minds produce thoughts in continuous streams, as if from an engine whose controls are not accessible to us. When we ruminate on negative thoughts it can cause a depressive state. If you can not stop thinking about negative thoughts let us help you work through it. Working through depression helps better manage chronic illnesses like diabetes, heart disease, and obesity.

Anxiety

Anxiety is a normal reaction to stress. However, excessive worrying or feeling nervous to the point of irrational thinking —even when there is little or no reason to worry about them can be debilitating. If your anxiety is beyond your control let us help you manage it and better manage your chronic disease in the process. When our mental health is taken care of our physical health get better too.

Stress Management

If you’re living with high levels of stress, you’re putting your entire well-being at risk. Stress wreaks havoc on your emotional equilibrium, as well as your physical health. It narrows your ability to think clearly, function effectively, and enjoy life. When the mind is under stress the reasoning portion of your mind shuts down and goes into survival mode.

Effective stress management, on the other hand, helps you break the hold stress has on your life, so you can be happier, healthier, and more productive. The ultimate goal is a balanced life and helping you break the negative habit loop stress can cause.

Tobacco Cessation

Using mindfulness and meditation teaches you of the difference between an action and a habit. Tobacco use becomes a habit when you don’t even know when, why, or how much you smoke.

So, if you can have a tea ceremony, why not have a cigarette smoking ceremony!

Very slowly take a cigarette out – as slowly as you can, because only if you take it very slowly will you be aware. Don’t do it in a mechanical way, as you always do. Then tap the cigarette on the packet very slowly and for as long as you want. There is no hurry. Then take the lighter… Then start smoking very slowly and think about smoking nothing else. Only smoke and think about it no eating, watching TV, texting or chatting JUST SMOKE.

All the time, while you take the cigarette out, light it and smoke it be aware of exactly what you are doing at that present moment.
